Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere right now. You’ve seen the headlines: “AI is coming for our jobs.” If you’re a real estate agent, it’s natural to wonder if technology might replace the personal touch that makes this business thrive.
Here’s the truth: AI won’t replace real estate agents. But agents who use AI will replace those who don’t.
As the Keller Williams AI Playbook* reminds us:
“AI can’t build trust with a nervous first-time homebuyer, it can’t navigate the delicate emotions of a seller leaving their family home, and it can’t read the room during tense negotiations.”
Why Agents Fear AI
Many agents hesitate to use AI because of a few big worries:
It feels too technical.
The results might sound robotic.
Clients want relationships, not robots.
But here’s the good news:
“AI isn’t coming for your job; it’s coming for your busywork, and you’d be crazy not to let it.”
The Truth: AI Can’t Replace Relationships
Your strength is connection. AI cannot replace your relationships or your role as a fiduciary. What it can do is free up hours of your day.
Instead of drowning in repetitive tasks, you can focus on what matters most; your people.
What AI Can Do for You
Think of AI as the most reliable assistant you’ve ever had, except it doesn’t take vacations or need a paycheck. The Playbook puts it simply:
“With the right plan and actions, AI can rescue you from the mundane and repetitive activities that drain your time and energy.”
Some examples:
Draft your property descriptions
Create marketing campaigns
Write social media captions
Summarize housing market updates
Even role-play scripts so you’re ready for client conversations
How to Start Small with AI
The best way to get comfortable is to start small:
Pick one task you wish you didn’t have to do.
Try AI for that task. For example, ask it to draft three versions of a Facebook post.
Tweak the output. Add your personality, local knowledge, and brand voice.
Final Thoughts
AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s here to remove the busywork so you can spend more time building relationships, closing deals, and enjoying life outside of real estate.
Stay tuned for the next blog in this series, where I’ll break down exactly what Large Language Models (LLMs) are, and why you don’t need to be a “tech person” to use them.
